I'd posted way back during season 6 that Amy and Rory were due to leave the show (based on the internet chatter at the time), but it would seem it's now been confirmed that we're going to have to wait for that until midway through season 7.
Showrunner Steven Moffat announced that the companions will have a "heartbreaking end" when they depart, which for most fans is pretty much alluding to the fact that they're going to die... Or be screwed over in some major way. If you saw the X-mas episode you'd have seen just how attached, emotionally, our beloved Timelord has become with the pair and I can only assume that this will be one of the most heart-wrenching departures the show has had (I believe Donna was the most painful for fans so far over the last 6 seasons) so let's hope it's done with due care and attention because I shed a tear at almost every episode of Doctor Who in the last 2 years and I don't think I can handle the loss!!! :P
